Suspicious Device Removed From Freehold Borough Street
A Freehold Borough resident spotted a suspicious device on the street Sunday, creating a temporary evacuation. Device was "inert."

FREEHOLD, NJ — A Hull Avenue resident found what he thought was an explosive device on the street Sunday, and the area was briefly evacuated, police said.
A heavy police presence was in the area Sunday, and first responders examined the device, police Capt. Ronnie Steppat said in a social media statement.
After an investigation by the state police, it was determined that the device was inert and there was no danger to the public, he said in a news release.

The type of device found was not described further. The device was removed and residents returned to their homes, police said.
