
One lucky high school student will be recognized as the Freehold Township Humanitarian of the Year and applications are now being taken to recognize this deserving individual.
The Freehold Township Human Relations Council is looking for a student “who demonstrates behaviors consistent with its mission, which is to foster and promote good will, cooperation and conciliation among all the habitants of Freehold Township,” according to information on the township’s website.
For winning the award the student will get an official proclamation from the Mayor and $1000 sponsored by Robert mcGirr of Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home at a meeting next year.

Eligible candidates must be a legal resident of the township, be either a junior or senior in high school and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above. Applicants must submit a brief personal statement explaining their reason for applying and two letters of recommendation endorsing their candidacy.
