MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ —The Board of County Commissioners is hosting its second Snowplow Naming Contest for fifth-grade students throughout the county.

The board held its first Snowplow Naming Contest in 2023. Students from Long Branch and Neptune City won the contest and named two county snowplows “Snow Force 1” and “Fast & the Flurrious” as a result.

This year, the board is bringing the contest back and giving fifth-grade students throughout Monmouth County a chance to submit their snowplow names.

“After the success of last year’s Snowplow Naming Contest, my fellow Commissioners and I are thrilled to host the contest again this year,” Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone said. “We received hundreds of submissions from schools across the County, including last year’s winners, ‘Snow Force 1’ submitted by Viego Vieira of Amerigo A. Anastasia Elementary in Long Branch and ‘Fast & The Flurrious’ submitted by Kaden Felder of Woodrow Wilson School in Neptune City.”

Contest submissions are open to all fifth-grade students throughout Monmouth County. To enter, students must submit a letter explaining their snowplow name and how to stay safe during a snowstorm.

Submissions will be accepted from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30.

The contest winner will have a snowplow named after their submission, and will be invited to help unveil it as well.

“We look forward to receiving the letters and seeing all the creative names!” Arnone said.

Once the contest opens on Nov. 1, submissions should be mailed to the Monmouth County Department of Public Information Hall of Records Annex at 1 East Main St., Freehold.
