Bacharach Executive Named Vice Chair of National Board

Richard J. Kathrins, Ph.D. Named Vice Chairman of American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association Board of Directors

Richard J. Kathrins, Ph.D., President and CEO of Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation in Pomona, N.J., has been elected vice chairman of the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association's (AMRPA) Board of Directors. He served as a trustee of AMRPA since 2010 and is the recipient of its INDE Award (Inspired, Notable, Dedicated, Efforts - Rehabilitation Leadership).

The American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association is the nation's only trade organization dedicated solely to the interests of Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals and Units, outpatient rehabilitation centers and other medical rehabilitation providers.

Dr. Kathrins began his career at Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation as director of physical therapy in 1984 before being named President and CEO in 1991. He is graduate of Boston University, he holds a Master's degree in Health Administration from Clark University Worcester, Mass. and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Administration from Touro University (now Trident University International) in Cypress, Calif.

As an active member of a number of state and national healthcare organizations, Dr. Kathrins has served as a member of the Executive Committee Fund for Access to Inpatient Rehabilitation and a trustee of the New Jersey Hospital Association. Dr. Kathrins also served as an adjunct professor of physical therapy at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and is the author of a number of peer-reviewed publications.
