Don Bragg, a former athletic director for what is now Stockton University and winner of the gold medal in the pole vault for the 1960 Olympics, died Saturday. He was 83.

Bragg set a world record with his 4.80-meter (15'9 1/4) vault at the 1960 Olympic Trials. He won the gold medal with a vault of 4.7 meters (15'5). He later set a world indoor record of 4.81 meters (15'9 1/2) in 1959. Bragg also won the NCAA pole vault national champion in 1955.

Bragg served as the first athletic director for what is now Stockton University — then called Stockton State College — from 1972 to 1980 as their first AD, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
