Black Horse Pike Reopens After Downed Pole Shuts Down Roadway

Update, 8:34 a.m.: The roadway has reopened in both directions, with only the right shoulder remaining closed, NJDOT said.


HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A stretch of the Black Horse Pike in Atlantic County is closed in both directions Wednesday morning because of a downed pole, officials said.

The roadway, also known as Route 322, has been shut down in the area east of Taminen Road in Hamilton Township, according to the NJ Department of Transportation.

It wasn't immediately clear what toppled the pole. But fallen utility poles have been reported throughout the state Wednesday after a powerful overnight storm with strong winds.
