Port Republic Teacher Charged With Sexually Assaulting Student
Brian McSee, 53, was the victim's choir teacher at the Port Republic Elementary School.

MAYS LANDING –A Port Republic man has been charged with sexually assaulting a student from the Port Republic Elementary School for several years, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.
Brian McSee, 53, is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility after he was arrested by New Jersey State Police on Dec. 13. He was also charged with official misconduct, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, Tyner said.
Detectives from the State Police Tuckerton Station determined that McSee had been having sexual contact with the juvenile victim when he was the victim's seventh and eighth grade choir teacher at the school. McSee also served as the choir director at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the victim's parish, he said.

“Given the close proximity of the residences of the victim and the defendant and the fact that the defendant had entered the victim’s home uninvited on December 2, 2017, it is important to ensure the juvenile victim’s safety as well as the public and that the defendant be detained, pending further court proceedings,” said Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Flammer, who represents the state in the matter.
Atlantic County Superior Court Judge John Rauh ruled Thursday that McSee is a flight risk and community threat and ordered him held until his trial, according to a report in The Press of Atlantic City.

Flammer said McSee had a physical altercation with the victim two weeks ago after showing up uninvited to his home.
“And the juvenile victim has indicated that the defendant can be violent at times,” Flammer said.
