The free "Voices and Votes" exhibit will open up on July 11 at Atlantic Cape Community College's Mays Landing campus.
MAYS LANDING, NJ — Learn about America's history right here in Atlantic County as the Smithsonian Institution's traveling historical exhibit comes to Atlantic Cape Community College.
"Voices and Votes: Democracy in America" tells the story of the nearly 250-year-old American government experiment "of, by and for the people" and how each generation since has expanded on how to create "a more perfect union."
Opening on July 11, the free exhibit will be set up in the Mays Landing campus Student Center and will be open six days a week until Aug. 13.

Last fall, Atlantic Cape was chosen to host the exhibit, presented by Museum on Main Street in cooperation with New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
“We are thrilled to have a piece of the Smithsonian Institution rest on our campus for several weeks this summer,” said Dr. Denise Coulter, Dean of Professional and Liberal Studies at Atlantic Cape. “Whether it is because of the limits imposed by the pandemic, distance, finances or availability, some of our citizens might never have an opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to see an exhibition like this.”
