$1.2M In Drinking Water Improvements Coming To Gloucester Twp.
Some of the water lines slated for replacement will be more than 50 years old this year, New Jersey American Water said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Residents who live on one of three Gloucester Township streets will see improvements in their drinking water by the end of the year, according to New Jersey American Water.
The municipality was recently awarded a $1.2 million grant to cover the cost of installing new lines from Main Street from Austin Avenue to East Front Street, Huntington Avenue from Austin Avenue to East Front Street and Woodland Avenue from East Front Street to Ridge Avenue, the company stated.
Some of the water lines along those roads that are slated for replacement will be more than 50 years old this year, New Jersey American Water said.

Three fire hydrants, 70 utility-owned water service lines and any customer-owned service lines "identified as lead or galvanized" will also be replaced during the approximately three-month project, said Erin Banes, New Jersey American Water's External Affairs Specialist.
The Gloucester Township project was placed on New Jersey American Water's project list after company engineers used "a sophisticated computer model that fairly ranks mains based on more than a dozen variables in order to help prioritize main replacement projects," Banes told Patch.
