2 Drivers Dead In Rt. 603 Truck Crash: State Police

Two truck drivers died as a result of the Thursday morning crash. The crash is still under investigation, police said.

MANNINGTON, NJ - Two truck drivers died as a result of a Thursday morning crash on a highway in Salem County, authorities said.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck towing a gooseneck trailer was traveling west on Mannington-Yorktown Road and an International 920 truck tractor was traveling north on CR-603 when the vehicles crashed at the intersection of both roads in Mannington Township, a spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police told Patch.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries to both drivers, state police said. The drivers were later identified as Chevy driver Ashley Knuth, 36, of Bridgeton, and International 920 driver David Mitchell, 42, of Woodstown.

A juvenile passenger in the Chevy sustained serious injuries and a juvenile passenger in the Chevy sustained minor injuries.

The intersection was closed in all directions for around seven hours, resulting in moderate traffic congestion, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
