5 Gloucester Twp. Nonprofits To Support This Holiday Season

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — If you’re like many of your Gloucester Township neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Gloucester Township area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

1. Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center: The Blackwood-based nonprofit is one of the region's leading animal-welfare agencies, sheltering and caring for thousands of animals per year.
2. The Unforgotten Haven: Managing more than 20 projects, the nonprofit serves a variety of causes with different focuses. For example, one group feeds the homeless, another distributes snack packs to chemo patients, and another assists women in domestic-violence shelters.
3. Pathway Into The Community: The organization provides a wide range of services to enhance the lives of adults with disabilities and caregivers.
4. Volunteer Center of South Jersey: The nonprofit connects volunteers with opportunities to serve their communities.
5. Food Bank of South Jersey: The Food Bank of South Jersey exists to provide immediate solutions to hunger by providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously and helping them find sustainable ways to improve their lives.
