Apartment Fire Kills 1 In Gloucester Twp.: Police

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — One person is dead after a fire raged Wednesday night in a Gloucester Township building with multiple homes and businesses, officials said.
Heavy flames emerged around 8 p.m. from a third-floor apartment in the mixed-used building on the Black Horse Pike in Glendora. A photo shared by the Runnemede Fire Department shows flames ripping through the apartment windows.
One resident was found dead when firefighters searched the building. Officials have not publicly identified them as of late Thursday morning.

No other injuries have been reported, but six people from two families were displaced. Local relatives are assisting them, police said.
Neighboring homes were safely evacuated as a precaution, police said.

The Black Horse Pike was shut down while firefighters extinguished the blaze.
The Camden County Fire Marshal is investigating what caused the fire, but police said it doesn't appear suspicious.
The building (410 N. Black Horse Pike) contains two businesses and two apartments. The ground floor appears to have a hair shop and a driving school.
