A bomb threat was called into the Blackwood tech school shortly after 2 p.m.

UPDATED 2/15 at 9:40 p.m.: Police say a total of five bomb-sniffing K-9s from the Camden County and Cumberland County sheriffs' departments and the Millville Police Department cleared the Pennco Tech campus, finding no evidence of a bomb in the school.

Pennco Tech was reopened to students and staff at approximately 4:40 p.m., roughly two-and-a-half hours after the bomb threat was called into the school's office.

Police ask that anyone with information about the person who called in the threat contact police dispatch at 856-228-4500 or leave a message on the township's anonymous crime tip line at 856-842-5560 or at police@gtpolice.com.

Police and fire units are investigating a bomb threat at Pennco Tech's Blackwood campus at this hour.

The threat was called into the school's office, according to Gloucester Township Police Lt. Mike Harkins said. Police were notified of the threat at 2:06 p.m.

The unknown caller indicated a bomb was inside the school's office.

Two Camden County Sheriff's Department bomb-sniffing K-9s were in the building as of about 3 p.m.

Pennco Tech made the decision to evacuate the school after receiving the threat, Harkins said.

Several students and school faculty members were observed standing within a few feet of the Erial Road school building at 3 p.m.—perhaps an indication the building had already been cleared.

Harkins indicated a press release on the investigation's findings would be issued later Wednesday.
