Boy Stole 3 Cars, Gets Caught In Gloucester Twp. Neighborhood Targeted For Thefts: Police
Police knew to monitor the neighborhood because of recent crime trends.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A teenage boy linked to three stolen vehicles was caught in the act Tuesday night in Gloucester Township, police said.
A vehicle theft was reported to police around 8:25 p.m. in the Revere Run neighborhood. Officers were conducting "proactive, targeted enforcement operations" in the area based on an analysis of crime trends, so they were able to flood the area of the theft almost immediately, police said.
Two other vehicles were found in the area — one from a nearby neighborhood and another from Cherry Hill — police said.

Officers tried to stop a possible suspect who was walking in the area. Police say they caught him when he tried to run away.
The suspect — a 15-year-old boy — had items consistent with burglary and vehicle theft, police said.

He was brought to police headquarters and charged with motor vehicle theft (three counts), criminal mischief (three counts), possession of burglary tools, and resisting arrest by flight.

Police urged residents to lock their vehicles, remove key fobs, remain alert to unusual behavior and immediately report suspicious activity.
