Brunch Eatery Tries For Liquor License In Gloucester Twp.
The Gloucester Township Council can approve the restaurant's license acquisition at the next meeting.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A new local restaurant might soon offer mimosas with your brunch.
First Watch reached a deal to obtain a liquor license for its Sicklerville location. The Gloucester Township Council is set to decide on whether to approve the transaction at Wednesday's meeting.
First Watch, a national chain, opened the Sicklerville location in November.

The restaurants specialize in breakfast, brunch and lunch. And many locations offer brunch cocktails such as mimosas, spiked lavender lemonade and blackberry bramble sangria.
Currently, the Sicklerville location does not serve alcoholic beverages. But the restaurant will be permitted to do so once it obtains a plenary retail consumption license — a liquor license that allows businesses to serve liquor for consumption on and off their premises.

In New Jersey, municipalities can only have a limited number of liquor license holders based on population and other factors. Typically, obtaining one requires purchasing it from a different license holder in the city or town.
First Watch is purchasing a license from an entity called 629 Cross Keys License LLC, according to the Township Council resolution. The resolution doesn't clarify who owns the entity but says it's a "pocket" license, meaning it currently belongs to someone who isn't using it.
