GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — A hearing for a proposed Chick-fil-A in Gloucester Township was postponed, officials told Patch.

An application to build the restaurant was set for a hearing at Tuesday's Planning Board meeting. It's now set to take place on Dec. 10.

The developer, Main Street MDT LLC, wants to bring the eatery to a vacant lot near Gloucester Premium Outlets. The nearest Chick-fil-A is about 2 miles away, in Turnersville, according to the restaurant chain's website.

If approved, Chick-fil-A will go on the corner of Premium Outlets and Zimmerman drives. The 5,400-square-foot eatery would feature multiple drive-thru lanes.

The vacant, paved lot is part of an area deemed in need of redevelopment — a designation that can help streamline construction processes. Gloucester Premium Outlets plans to sell the lot to Main Street MDT, according to township documents.

The proposed restaurant has already received some key approvals from local officials. The Township Council voted to allow Main Street MDT to redevelop the property, and it passed the Planning Board's preliminary review last month.

The Planning Board is now giving the proposal a "technical review" — a deeper assessment of whether the project meets zoning regulations.
