Chubby Chicks Cafe In Gloucester Twp. To Permanently Close
Chubby Chicks throws out the diet book in its deep-fried menu. Blackwood's location will shut down as they prepare to open in Philly.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Chubby Chicks Cafe in Blackwood will permanently close at the end of the week. But this isn't a deep-fried goodbye for Chef Shakeira Turner.
Sunday will mark Chubby Chicks Cafe's last day in the township, as the business prepares to open a Philadelphia location.
"I am not going to keep both locations," Turner, the restaurant's founder, said Monday in a video announcement. "So the one that I have in Philly is just too big, too grand, and I'm not going to be able to handle both spaces."

Chubby Chicks, a brunch café, lives up to its name, throwing out the diet book for a belt-loosening experience. The menu is filled with fried delicacies, such as grits, deviled eggs and lobster tacos. Beverage options include chocolate-covered strawberry coffee and cotton candy lemonade.
Turner showed off some of her concoctions when Fox 29 Philadelphia visited two years ago.

She encouraged locals to visit the Blackwood location this week and to check the Philadelphia restaurant in the future. An opening date hasn't been announced, but it will be on 11th and Walnut.
