Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run Charged 9 Months After South Jersey Man's Death: Police
The driver fatally struck a man who was pushing a shopping cart in the street last year, authorities said.
VINELAND, NJ — Nine months after a deadly hit-and-run in Vineland, the driver who struck a man who was pushing a shopping cart in the street has been identified, authorities said.
Brittany L. Riddle, 30, was charged Thursday with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The charge stems from a crash that killed another Vineland resident on June 14, police said.
Early that morning, police were alerted of a vehicle appearing to strike a pedestrian on the shoulder of North Delsea Drive near West Wheat Road.

The pedestrian — Bruce E. Byron, 60 — was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a gray Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Delsea Drive when it hit Byron and drove off, police said.

Byron was pushing a shopping cart in the northbound lane of North Delsea Drive when he was struck, police said.
Riddle was arrested on Thursday and released on a summons.
