The standoff lasted about three hours, the police chief said.

A roughly three-hour standoff in the township's Erial section ended shortly after 7 p.m. Monday when the Police Department's Special Response Team forced entry to a home there to arrest the suspect.

The suspect pulled a knife on a police officer who had responded to a home on Hazel Avenue, just off Jarvis Road, for a report of a dispute there, Gloucester Township Police Chief W. Harry Earle said Monday night.
