Garbowski Says Goodbye

The outgoing councilman said goodbye to his Township Council colleagues at the conclusion of Monday night's work session.

Four years was enough for Ken Garbowski.

On Monday, in a preemptive move, Garbowski said goodbye to his colleagues on the Township Council.

The one-term councilman indicated he may be out of town on business for Council's final 2011 meeting.

"Just in case I cannot make my last Council meeting, I just want to thank the residents of Gloucester Township and the Democrat executive committee for giving me the opportunity to serve," he said during Council's latest work session.

Garbowski was elected to Council in 2007, then joined Councilwoman Crystal Evans, who also did not seek reelection in November, as newcomers to the township's top governing body in January 2008.

Garbowski is a lifelong township resident. He is vice president of Local 393, the carpenters' union for Camden and Gloucester counties.

Council will meet just one more time in 2011, on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
