Gloucester Township Police Dispel Valleybrook Sex Assault Rumor

Gloucester Township police are dispelling rumors of a recent alleged sexual assault in the Valleybrook Development.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Gloucester Township police are dispelling rumors of a recent alleged sexual assault in the Valleybrook Development.

The alleged assault was discussed publicly in a social media group on Sept. 2, police said Tuesday evening.

“Our records indicate that no one reported a sexual assault to the Gloucester Township Police Department during this time period,” police said in a statement. “We investigated the report on the social media post, and found that no sexual assault was reported.”

Police believe the rumor may have started after a suspicious/emotionally disturbed person was reported in the development on Sept. 1.

“We are not aware of any unusual safety concerns to residents of the Valleybrook Development,” police said. “Any further inquiries or information about this incident should be forwarded to the Gloucester Township Police Community Relations Bureau at 856-228-4011, or email communityrelations@gtpolice.com.”

Police reminded residents that all incidents in Gloucester Township that require immediate police assistance should be called into the police department at 856-228-4500. Anyone who has an emergency or is witnessing a crime in progress should call 911.
