Gloucester Twp. Honors 20th Anniversary Of 9/11 Attacks Sept. 11

The annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Gloucester Township will take place on Sept. 11, 8 a.m.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Gloucester Township will take place on Sept. 11, 8 a.m. at the Chief Joseph A. Reichert, Sr. Firefighter Memorial Commons, 43 Somerdale Road in the Blackwood section of the township.

All are invited to join the Chews Landing Fire Department, Gloucester Township Police Department, and other Gloucester Township First Responders and Organizations during the township’s observance of the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center.

Those who were killed in the attacks, as well as the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel and those suffering from post-9/11 illnesses, will be honored.

“September 11th, Patriot Day, is a day that will never be forgotten in the United States,” the Chews Landing Fire Department said in its announcement of the event. “U.S. citizens will not only remember this date because of the tragic losses of their friends and loved ones, but they will remember this day because of the way that it united an entire country.

“On this date, Americans felt a renewed feeling of patriotism and pride for their home country. People all around the globe were reminded about how important friends and family are. We honor those lost but not forgotten on September 11, 2001. Let us not let tragedy divide us, but the pride for our country make us strong.”
