Southern Restaurant Abruptly Closes In Gloucester Twp.
'Although opening our own restaurant has been a lifelong dream, the reality of doing so in our current economy has proven untenable.'

BLACKWOOD, NJ — A restaurant that brought southern comfort to Gloucester Township has permanently closed.
Blair Mountain Biscuit Co. announced the abrupt closure on April 10 after nearly four years in Blackwood.
The economic landscape was a major reason for the closure, the business said on social media.

"The challenges of running a small business in today's world have proven too great for us to continue," the restaurant said. "Anyone who has worked in this industry understands it is not for the faint of heart. Although opening our own restaurant has been a lifelong dream, the reality of doing so in our current economy has proven untenable."
Married couple Ted and Tori Miller founded Blair Mountain Biscuit Co. in the summer of 2021, according to the restaurant's website.

Born and raised in Virginia, Ted developed his signature biscuit recipe while working as the executive chef of a vineyard in the state. In 2019, he moved to Washington Township with Tori — a native of the township.
After briefly working as a chef in Philadelphia, the COVID-19 pandemic became a catalyst for Ted to launch a restaurant in South Jersey.
The restaurant served biscuits — on their own and in sandwich form — along with other southern comforts.
Blair Mountain Biscuit Co. operated at 700 S Black Horse Pike, Blackwood.
