GT Police: No Reports of Quake Damage, Outages
Gloucester Township Police remind residents to dial 911 for emergencies only.

Police released the following statement regarding Tuesday afternoon's earthquake, which was centered near Richmond, VA, but felt as far north as Massachusetts and south as Georgia:
UPDATE AS OF 2:40 PM - At this time Gloucester Township Police have received only minor calls for service. No power outages or traffic signal malfunctions have been reported or discovered. Please report any emergencies by calling 9-1-1, and non-emergencies in Gloucester Township by calling 856-228-4500.
Cellular telephone service was sporadic at best along the East Coast due to volume following the earthquake, according to reports.

It is possible what was felt here in New Jersey and along the East Coast at approximately 1:53 p.m. Tuesday was a so-called "foreshock," or a precursor to a larger earthquake. It is also possible there will be aftershocks.
With another earthquake or similar activity still possible, Gloucester Township Police forwarded this safety information from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
