Here’s Why Morgan Was Shouted Out As A Gloucester Twp. Star Student

The pediatric cancer survivor is a straight-A student and dedicated to raising money through Alex's Lemonade Stands, her nomination says.

We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Gloucester Township.

GLOUCESTER TWP., NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Lilli who nominated daughter Morgan of Gloucester Township.

How do you know the star local student?

My daughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

She has been recognized by her school, community and mayor. Yet she continues to strive for excellence and to make our community a better place! Morgan is a pediatric cancer survivor who puts time and effort into hosting Alex’ s Lemonade Stands yearly in our township at her old elementary school. She runs a play-doh drive for Children’s hospital of Philadelphia's child life oncology department. She has had many set backs in her first few years of schooling, chemo, COVID… and yet she continues to prove cancer wrong in defeating chemo brain to be a straight A student, got a star student award for being an overall leader and example to her peers in her elementary school and this year in middle school received student of the month for showing leadership, kindness and thoughtfulness toward others . She is always smiling, always positive and is ready to be part of an upcoming Alex’s lemonade stand at her sibling's high school, a St. Baldrick's event in May, and ready to give back to others.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She is resilient. No matter what happens to her, she handles it with a smile!

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Morgan!
