Highland, Timber Creek Students Compete for Envirothon Glory

Highland and Timber Creek high school students will be among those competing Saturday to represent New Jersey the nation’s largest environmental education competition.

The two local high schools will take on 32 other teams during the 19th annual New Jersey Envirothon, a contest that tests students on natural resources topics.

This year’s Envirothon theme is “Nonpoint Source Pollution/Low Impact Development.”

One hundred seventy students from 15 New Jersey counties will participate in the competition at the Girl Scout Camp Sacajawea in Farmingdale, according to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, which co-sponsors the Envirothon.

The winning team will receive a college scholarship, plus represent New Jersey at the 2012 Canon Envirothon at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA, in July.
