Horse Killed, Teen Hurt In South Jersey Hit-And-Run

A 14-year-old girl was riding a horse when she was hit by a pickup truck, according to Franklin Township Police.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — A horse was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Franklin Township Tuesday evening, police said.

A 14-year-old girl from Sicklerville and a 21-year-old man from Camden were riding horses in the 1500 block of Monroeville Road when the 14-year-old and her horse were hit by an older model light-colored pickup truck, according to police.

The horse died at the scene, the girl was taken to Cooper Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the man and his horse were not hurt and the truck and its driver headed towards Buck Road, according to police.

The search continues Wednesday morning for the driver, police said.
