How Many New Coronavirus Cases Did Camden County See This Week?

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Camden County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county?

As of Friday, there have been 52,593 coronavirus cases and 1,245 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County since the pandemic began in March 2020.

This is an increase of 707 cases and three deaths from last week, when there were 51,886 coronavirus cases and 1,242 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County.

Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for 80 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four-weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health.

Camden County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest weekly report. The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses.

“This surge is showing no signs of slowing down. We need more of our community to step up and get vaccinated,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “The vaccines are safe, effective, and our only shot at putting this pandemic behind us. If you haven’t been vaccinated, don’t leave yourself at risk, get your shot right away.”

As of Friday, 317,481 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 287,920 are fully vaccinated. More information regarding vaccination rates throughout the county and available on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard at covid19.nj.gov.

The county Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Delta variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
