Important Dates from School Calendars

The start of the 2011-12 school year is right around the corner.

Gloucester Township Patch has perused the calendars for the Black Horse Pike Regional School District (BHPRSD) and Gloucester Township Public Schools (GTPS) to pick some highlights you'll need to know as students, parents and teachers.

Sept. 1 - First day for BHPRSD and GTPS teachers

Sept. 6 - First day for BHPRSD and GTPS students

Nov. 8 - GTPS schools closed for Election Day

Nov. 9 - No school for GTPS students; GTPS teachers report for in-service day

Nov. 10-11 - GTPS and BHPRSD schools closed to students for New Jersey Education Association Convention; staff must report

Nov. 24-25 - BHPRSD and GTPS schools closed for Thanksgiving recess

Dec. 5 - Half-day for BHPRSD students

Dec. 23 - BHPRSD schools closed for start of winter recess; GTPS schools on half-day schedule

Jan. 2 - BHPRSD and GTPS schools reopen after winter recess

Jan. 16 - BHPRSD and GTPS schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Jan. 30 - No school for BHPRSD and GTPS students; BHPRSD and GTPS teachers report for in-service day

Feb. 17 - No school for GTPS; half-day for BHPRSD students, in-service day for teachers

Feb. 20 - BHPRSD and GTPS schools closed for Presidents Day

March 6-8 - Half-days for BHPRSD students (High School Proficiency Assessment testing)

April 6, 9-13 - BHPRSD schools closed for spring recess

April 6, 9-10 - GTPS schools closed for spring recess

May 22 - Half-day for BHPRSD students

May 28 - BHPRSD and GTPS schools closed for Memorial Day

June 8 - Last day for GTPS students and teachers (subject to change)

June 13 - Last day (half-day schedule) for BHPRSD students (subject to change)

June 14 - Last day for BHPRSD teachers (subject to change)
