From Birthday Surprises to Musical Theatre Triumphs, Community Spirit Shines Bright This January
January brought an abundance of vibrant celebrations and meaningful moments to Juniper Village at Washington Square, a premier senior living community, where residents and associates alike embraced the new year with enthusiasm and creativity. The month’s festivities showcased the community’s heart for creating extraordinary experiences for all.
The year kicked off with a spectacular surprise as the community gathered to celebrate Executive Director Laura’s 40th birthday with a lively 1985-themed party. The dining team showcased their culinary expertise with an impressive spread of fresh sushi, Laura’s favorite cuisine. The highlight of the celebration was an energetic performance by Juniper Jammers, the leadership team’s very own air band, bringing smiles and laughter to all in attendance.
Culinary excellence continued to take center stage during Italian Pasta Night, where residents delighted in a customizable dining experience. The evening featured an array of perfectly prepared pasta dishes, with guests selecting their preferred combinations of noodles, sauces, and proteins. Fresh Italian salads and warm bread complemented the main courses, all masterfully prepared by Executive Chef Pauline and her dedicated team members, Sunny and James.

The month reached an all-time high with an inspiring performance by the Perennial Players, Juniper’s resident musical theatre troupe. Their production of “Raise Your Voice” brought Broadway magic to life through beloved selections from classics like Singin’ in the Rain, Sister Act, and Fiddler on the Roof. This special presentation, made possible through Music Theatre International’s Broadway Senior program, featured fifteen talented community members and demonstrated musical theatre’s inspiring and positive impact on the community.
The production’s success was truly a collaborative effort, from the weeks of dedicated rehearsals to the remarkable transformation of the dining room into an intimate black box theatre space.
