Juvenile Charged in Stabbing

The incident occurred on Sterling Street in the township's Erial section.

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy with stabbing a man in Erial late Monday night.

The altercation reportedly began when the victim's neighbors yelled for the juvenile to slow down as he drove down Sterling Street at what they considered a high rate of speed, according to police.

The driver exited the vehicle armed with a knife and engaged the victim, whom police identified as Raymond Aldrich.

The investigation was aided by the fact that the 17-year-old boy, whom police did not identify due to his standing as a juvenile, dropped his identification on the ground while fleeing to the two-door, silver Saturn he was driving.

Police located the suspects a short time later and took them into custody without incident.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is being held in Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
