Lifelong Gloucester Twp. Resident To Be Promoted To Police Chief

Gloucester Township's 2 highest-ranking officers joined the department 30 years ago. Now, 1 will succeed the other as chief.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Gloucester Township Police Department's second-in-command is set to become the township's next police chief.

Deputy Police Chief Anthony Minosse will take the helm at the start of November, when Police Chief David Harkins retires. Minosse will be sworn in Oct. 30 at a Change of Command Ceremony.

Harkins announced last week that he is retiring, effective Nov. 1. He has served as police chief since 2019, when Minosse was appointed deputy. They both became Gloucester Township police officers in 1995.

Minosse is a lifelong Gloucester Township resident who graduated from Triton Regional High School in 1989. He joined the Chews Landing Fire Department in 1990 and volunteered as a firefighter for several years.

Gloucester Township hired Minosse as an officer shortly after he graduated from Rowan University.

Minosse has risen through the ranks throughout his career. He became deputy chief in 2019, serving as staff commander and assisting the police chief.

The Gloucester Township police chief is selected by the mayor and then approved by Township Council.

Minosse will be sworn in as chief during a Change of Command Ceremony at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Timber Creek Regional High School's auditorium (501 Jarvis Rd., Sicklerville).

Cpt. John Stollsteimer, commander of the department's Administrative Services Division, will become deputy police chief.
