Lost iPhone Turns Into Surveillance Camera

A Gloucester Township worker, who lost his phone in an unusual way, had to watch as his lost phone's new "owner" uploaded pictures of himself to the cloud.

Can you see me now?

That may be the question Gloucester Township police and a local resident are asking after pictures taken with a lost iPhone camera were uploaded to a cloud server and onto his replacement phone.

On Wednesday, the victim discovered his iCloud account was syncing new photos and contacts from his lost iPhone to his new iPhone. A man and a woman appeared in several of the photos, as well as two children.

The victim tried to reach the couple with a newly synced email account on the phone, but they did not respond. He reported the incident to police this week and photos of the couple taken with the lost phone were posted on township police social media pages. Authorities are seeking tips to identify the man and woman.

The victim, who was only described as a Washington Township resident, believes he left his phone on top of his car on his commute to work in Gloucester Township on May 3. He thinks it fell off somewhere on Cross Keys Road.
