Man Walking On Highway Ramp Fatally Struck By Car In Camden Co.: Police

The man walked into the vehicle's path in the middle of the night, authorities said.

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ — A car fatally struck a man who was walking on a highway ramp early Tuesday in Camden County, authorities said.

It happened at 2:19 a.m. on the Interstate 76 East ramp from Route 130 South in Gloucester City, according to State Police.

A pedestrian — Douglas Cella, 60, of Sewell — got struck when he walked into the path of a Mitsubishi Eclipse on the ramp, a State Police spokesperson told Patch.

Cella died as a result, officials said. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available as of Tuesday afternoon.
