Man's Body Pulled From Timber Creek In South Jersey: Police

The body of a 66-year-old man was pulled from Timber Creek in Gloucester City Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ — The body of a 66-year-old man was pulled from Timber Creek in Gloucester City Monday afternoon, Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Gloucester City Police Chief Brian Morrell announced on Tuesday.

Train operators spotted the body in the water at about 2:14 p.m. and called police, authorities said. Police who responded to the scene found the man floating face down, according to authorities.

Marine unit members from the Westville and Bellmawr fire departments retrieved the body from the water, authorities said.

An autopsy determined that the man had drowned, and that his death was an accident, authorities said. A case of beer and some empty cans were found on the scene, according to authorities.

Further results are pending toxicology testing, authorities said. The investigation is being handled by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Gloucester City Police.
