Massive, Modern Supermarket Opening: What To Know About The Gloucester Twp. Store

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — The new, massive ShopRite in Gloucester Township will open Sunday, expanding the supermarket's offerings in the neighborhood and bringing new life to the long-vacant Kmart building.

Here's what to know about the new store in Cherrywood Plaza.

ShopRite of Cherrywood Plaza

• Location: 1468 Blackwood-Clementon Rd.
• Grand opening: 9 a.m. Sunday (ribbon-cutting at 8:45 a.m.)

What makes this store different?

The 85,000-square-foot supermarket is designed to deliver a modern shopping experience. It will anchor Cherrywood Plaza's Kmart building, which has been vacant since 2017.

Amenities will include:

• Zallie’s Fresh Kitchen Catering: Prepared dishes and custom menus designed for gatherings of any size.
• Authentic Asian Wokery & Sushi Bar: Freshly prepared sushi rolls, sashimi and made-to-order wok entrées.

ShopRite of Laurel Hill to Close

The new store will replace ShopRite of Laurel Hill, which is down the street at 1224 Blackwood-Clementon Rd.

The soon-to-be-former location has been providing groceries since 1973, when it was a Shop N Bag. It was converted to a ShopRite in 1980, become the first of several Zallie family-owned ShopRites in South Jersey.

Grand Opening

The grand opening will feature plenty of entertainment, including magicians, balloon artists, juggling stilt walkers, a live DJ, face painting, and complimentary caricature portraits. Food samplings will be available throughout the store.
