Moms Talk: More Scorers or More Passers?
Should we be raising our kids to pass the ball or shoot the ball?

At my daughter's soccer game this past Saturday, I noticed one boy who seemed to enjoy passing the ball to his teammates more than shooting the ball on the goal.
I found this odd.
If you have a kid less than 10 years old who plays soccer, you know what I'm talking about.

If you don't, let's just say kids that age usually take possession of the ball and one of two things happens: 1) An opposing player steals the ball and takes it the other direction, or 2) The kid takes the ball as close to the opposing goal as he can and attempts to kick the ball into the net.
Passing the ball is not usually an option for kids that age.

Watching this boy, who is only 7 or 8, play the game got me thinking.
No, not about how to encourage teamwork or sharing. (That's where you thought I was taking this, though, isn't it?)
It got me thinking about whether we need more passers or more scorers in this world. Metaphorically, of course.
So, GT Patch "Moms Talk" readers, I ask you: Does the world need more scorers or more passers? How are you raising your kids? Why? Is there a happy medium? Or does it have to be one or the other?
