More Than 760 New COVID-19 Cases In Camden County This Week
The delta variant accounted for more than 99 percent of COVID-19 cases in New Jersey over a four-week period.
CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Camden County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county?
As of Friday, there have been 57,809 coronavirus cases and 1,291 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County since the pandemic began in March 2020.
This is an increase of 763 cases and 11 deaths from last week, when there were 57,046 coronavirus cases and 1,282 coronavirus-related deaths in Camden County.

Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for more than 99 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four-weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health.
Camden County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest weekly report. The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses.

“We could prevent the vast majority of these infections if everyone got vaccinated,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “The vaccines are safe, and an overwhelming amount of evidence shows us that they are effective in reducing the likelihood of getting COVID-19, being hospitalized from it, and ultimately facing severe illness. If you haven’t been vaccinated yet, do not wait any longer.”
As of Friday, 351,620 Camden County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 307,712 are fully vaccinated and 16,166 have received a third dose. The county Health Department is continuing to closely track new cases of COVID-19 and information regarding the prevalence of the Delta variant. New cases are often reassigned to other municipalities over the course of an investigation.
