More Businesses in Store for Shoppes

The Shoppes at Cross Keys recently won Planning Board approvals for new construction.

The Township Planning Board last week granted The Shoppes at Cross Keys' ownership group approval to build additional retail and restaurant space at the shopping center.

The Shoppes are located at Cross Keys Road and the Atlantic City Expressway. Current businesses include restaurants Texas Roadhouse and Bertucci's and clothing stores Justice, Banana Republic, New York & Company, and Lane Bryant.

The Planning Board actually granted the developer, Bala Cynwyd, PA-based C Keys LLC, preliminary and final site plan approval for two different proposals at its Jan. 24 meeting.

The first plan would result in the construction of three new buildings totaling 34,040 square feet, while the alternate plan would bring two new buildings at a total of 55,840 square feet, according to Ken Lechner, the township's director of community development and planning.

The first plan would be for two buildings to be used as either retail space or restaurants at 9,500 square feet and 14,500 square feet and a third to be used as a restaurant at 9,140 square feet.

The alternate plan would feature 46,700 square feet in retail space in one structure and a 9,140-square-foot stand-alone restaurant.

The approval of two plans will give the developer greater flexibility as it seeks tenants for the new space, Lechner said.

The new buildings will go behind Texas Roadhouse, along the Atlantic City Expressway side of the property.
