Mullen School Home to Camco Teacher of the Year

Patti McBride won the distinction earlier this academic year.

Did you know that Ann A. Mullen Middle School is home to the reigning Camden County Teacher of the Year?

That's right—communications technology teacher Patti McBride was named the county's best teacher in the fall.

McBride, a Glassboro State College (Rowan University) graduate, came to Mullen Middle in 1996.

Now in her 25th year as an educator, McBride returned to the Gloucester Township school district, where she had completed her student-teaching requirement while in college, in 1995, teaching for just a year at Charles W. Lewis Middle School before heading to Mullen Middle.

In addition to her classroom responsibilities, McBride is the faculty advisor for Mullen's morning news program, "Day Break," which is now in its second year.

While rightfully proud to have won the 2011-12 Camden County Teacher of the Year honor, McBride said she receives an even bigger reward every day in the classroom.

"If I can instill the excitement of learning in the students so it will be lifelong, then I've done my job," she said.
