Missing Driver Confirmed Dead After Truck Crashes Into South Jersey River: Police
A passenger was also hospitalized with 'moderate' injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Update, 10:20 a.m.: Authorities confirmed the death of a driver who went missing after a dump truck crashed into a South Jersey river. State Police identified the decedent as Matthew Jacobs Jr., 60, of Bridgeton.
The crash occurred at 11:33 p.m. Thursday on Route 533 South in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle — a Kenworth T880 — was traveling southbound when it ran off the road to the right, through the guide rail and into the Cohansey River, police told Patch.
Jacobs sustained fatal injuries. Officials transported a passenger to the hospital for "moderate" injuries, according to police.

BRIDGETON, NJ - Authorities are searching for a missing driver after a dump truck crashed into a New Jersey river overnight, according to reports.

The dump truck tumbled into the Cohansey River in Bridgeton, Cumberland County at around midnight, per 6abc. As of 5 a.m., divers did not locate the driver.
A passenger in the dump truck at the time of the crash was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, NBC10 reported. The passenger's condition was not immediately made public.
A body was found along the water line, though search teams are continuing to dive as no positive identification has been made yet, NBC10 added.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
