NJ Teen Sentenced In Mall Parking Lot Shooting: Prosecutor

The teen was sentenced after he admitted to shooting a 28-year-old man several times in a South Jersey mall parking lot, officials said.

VINELAND, NJ - An 18-year-old New Jersey man was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison after he admitted to shooting a man several times in a Vineland mall parking lot, authorities said.

Noah Hess of Swedesboro, who was originally charged as a juvenile in Gloucester County, was 16 years old when he shot a 28-year-old man in the lot adjacent to the Boscov’s Department Store in the Cumberland Mall on June 10, 2021, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

Hess was later charged as an adult in Cumberland County and ultimately entered a guilty plea to one count of aggravated assault in the second degree, the prosecutor’s office said.

Hess must serve 85% of his sentence prior to becoming eligible for parole, per the terms of the No Early Release Act. He will also be subject to a three-year period of mandatory parole supervision upon release from prison, the prosecutor’s office said.
