Official: Careless Smoking Cause of Millbridge Gardens Blaze
The Dec. 11 fire displaced the residents of three units in the apartment complex.
Careless smoking was the cause of a destructive fire at Millbridge Gardens on Dec. 11.
The fire displaced the residents of three apartments while also causing smoke damage in several other units.
An investigation revealed that a "carelessly discarded cigarette" was the cause of the blaze, Paul Sandrock, Camden County's acting chief fire marshal, said on Thursday.

While Sandrock would not say in which unit the fire started, neighbors and Millbridge Gardens staff indicated in the wake of the Dec. 11 fire that the blaze appeared to have sparked inside apartment 643, a second-floor unit.
There were no serious injuries in the fire, which was reported at around 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11.
