Fatal Shooting During Sicklerville Police Encounter Was Self-Inflicted: Prosecutor

No officers fired their weapons during the incident, according to investigators from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

SICKLERVILLE, NJ — A person fatally shot themselves during a police encounter Wednesday at a condo complex in Sicklerville, officials said.

The deadly encounter happened around 2:30 p.m. in the Lehigh Manor Estates neighborhood.

An investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that no officers fired their weapons during the incident.

A wounded Winslow Township police officer was removed from the scene for treatment, the CCPO said. The officer's injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.

"The investigation also confirmed that this was an isolated incident and that there is no active threat to area residents or the surrounding community," the CCPO said.

The prosecutor's office withheld the deceased individual's identity and said no further information will be released at this time.

The investigation remains active.

Lehigh Manor is in the Winslow Township portion of Sicklerville.
