Police: Blackwood Man Charged with Burglarizing Home in His Neighborhood

Police initially arrested the 31-year-old man on shoplifting charges.

Police charged a Blackwood man with breaking into a home in his own neighborhood after questioning him in connection with the crime following his arrest Monday for alleged shoplifting offenses.

Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to the 7-Eleven store on Evesham Road, in the township's Glendora section, a bit after 9 p.m. Monday on a report that a shoplifter had just fled the convenience store with 15 packs of cigarettes, Lt. Edward Bryant said.

While investigating the 7-Eleven incident, police received a call from the Wawa store on Somerdale Road, in the township's Chews Landing section, indicating a shoplifting incident involving cigarettes had just occurred there.

Christopher Coller, 31, arrived at his Grand Avenue home a short time later, and was placed under arrest. Coller allegedly resisted arrest and was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), according to Bryant.
