Girl, 14, Killed In South Jersey Bicycle Crash: Police
The teen was attempting to cross Black Horse Pike in front of a Wawa store when she was struck head-on by a Nissan Maxima, police said.
WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ — A 14-year-old from South Jersey died last week in Williamstown after she was hit on her bike in a head-on crash on Black Horse Pike, authorities said.
The teen, who was riding a mountain bike, was attempting to cross the Black Horse Pike at the intersection of Route 322 and New Brooklyn Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
A 2013 Nissan Maxima driven by a 36-year-old from Williamstown was approaching the entrance to a Wawa store in the inside westbound lane when the cyclist entered the roadway from the entrance of the Wawa store and failed to yield right of way to vehicular traffic, police said.

As a result, the front of the Maxima struck the pedal cyclist in the westbound lane, police said. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene until police arrived.
The teen was transported to Jefferson Washington Township for treatment and later airlifted to Cooper University Trauma Center in Camden where she died of her injuries.
