Teen Ballplayer's Grand Slam Smashes Through Cop Car's Rear Windshield In South Jersey

Police had a good laugh, saying 'all we ask is to hit any future home runs in Millville more towards center or left field if you can.'

MILLVILLE, NJ — It's nice to leave ballgames with a souvenir, but it's better to catch them with a glove than your rear windshield. However, a South Jersey police agency had a good laugh after a young slugger inadvertently smashed a grand slam into their vehicle.

Sol Elmer, 13, blasted the home run Saturday in Millville for the South Jersey Bulls — a youth travel club. The ball cleared the Chiola Field fence, shattering the back glass of a Millville Police Department patrol vehicle in the parking lot behind the field.

Millville officers were good sports, taking a photo with Elmer as he held the home-run ball in front of the damaged car.

"Finding one of our patrol vehicles damaged is not cool," Millville PD wrote on Facebook. "Finding out the youngest player on the team hit a grand slam which caused said damage….pretty cool."

The law enforcement agency made one playful request.
