Woman Handing Out Candy from a Car Draws Suspicion

Police are investigating an incident on Berkshire Road on Friday.

Township police are investigating a report of a woman attempting to hand out candy to a child from a car.

The incident happened on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Berkshire Road in the Erial section of the township. A neighbor saw the woman attempt to give a 7-year-old boy candy from the window of a Chevy SUV on Friday. The neighbor warned the boy not to take the candy and approached the woman.

The neighbor said the woman told her she had extra candy after an event at her church and was giving it away. She saw candy on the front seat of the vehicle and the woman told her she meant no harm.

The vehicle was described as a 1990 Chevy Suburban with chrome rims, silver door trim and a large gold Chevy emblem on the center of the rear door. The driver was described as black, dark complexion, about 45 to 50, heavy set with short curly black hair.

The Gloucester Township Police Department is seeking additional information.
