'A Shining Star': Young Gloucester High Grad, Former Athlete Mourned After Fatal Crash
Gage Myers was an accomplished athlete with a kind heard, according to those who knew him. He died in a recent Maryland crash, police said.

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ — A young man killed in a crash last weekend was an accomplished athlete with a kind heart, according to Gloucester City community members mourning the loss of Gage Myers.
Myers, 18, died in a collision Saturday evening on a highway in northeastern Maryland, authorities said. A 19-year-old woman in his vehicle was airlifted to the hospital, according to Maryland State Police.
Authorities haven't disclosed the woman's name or her current condition, but Gloucester City High School identified her as Rylee McNee. McNee graduated from Gloucester High in 2022, and Myers graduated a year later.

A GoFundMe raising money for Myers's funeral costs called him "a shining star."
"Gage was a hardworking kind soul that was carving his future," the GoFundMe page says. "He brought stability to his family through kind words, a quick wit and a handsome smile."

Myers was a "wonderful" student-athlete at Gloucester High, playing baseball and basketball for the Lions, according to Title Town, a social-media page that highlights members of the school community.
"Gage was beloved by our faculty, coaches and his fellow students," the page says.
Gloucester High encouraged people to keep the families of Myers and McNee in their thoughts and prayers. The school made counselors available Monday for students and staff.
"Gage was a wonderful young man with a kind heart and handsome, infectious smile," the school said on its Facebook page for announcements.
Several people connected to the Lions' athletic community left kind words about Myers on the GoFundMe page.
"Gage was a great kid!" said one commenter. "We enjoyed watching him play baseball with our son!"
"It was an honor to be able to coach Gage," said another reply. "We all will miss his smile and positive energy he brought everyday."
