Warren County Land Preservation Director Corey J. Tierney announced the preservation of over 270 acres of farmland.
The Drake Farm in Allamuchy Township is a family-owned farm consisting of nearly 200 acres, predominantly planted in corn and hay. Adjoining several other preserved farms, the preservation of the Drake farm adds to an impressive farm belt now consisting of more than 2,300 contiguous acres of permanently protected farmland.
The County contributed 30% towards the total purchase price of $792,348 for the development rights to the Drake Farm. The 70% balance of the purchase price was paid using state funds.

Warren County and Blairstown Township each contributed about 19% towards the total purchase price of $541,530 for the development rights to the Race Farms. The 62% balance of the purchase price was paid using state funds.
When landowners sell their development rights, they continue to own the land but agree to deed restrictions that permanently protect the land for agricultural uses.
